JCAT All-Star Team

    Johns Creek Aquatic Team (JCAT)

Interested in extending your summer swim into July? The city-sponsored team is comprised of qualified swimmers, ages 6-18, from local Johns Creek neighborhood/subdivision swim teams who compete at the Georgia Recreation & Parks Association (GRPA) State Swim Meet.

The City of Johns Creek Recreation and Parks Division (JCRPD) would like to invite your swim team to be a part of the Johns Creek Aquatic Team (JCAT)/GRPA State Swim Team! This “all-star” swim team will represent the City of Johns Creek and compete in the Georgia Recreation & Parks Association (GRPA) State Swim Meet on July 19 & 20 at the Columbus Aquatic Center, Columbus GA.

    WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

The team shall be comprised of swimmers, ages 6-18 (as of June 1), who meet one of the following criteria AND qualifies at the GRPA District 7 Swim Meet:

  1. Swimmer is a resident of the City of Johns Creek who participates on any team inside or outside of the city limits.
  2. Swimmer is not a resident of the City of Johns Creek, as long as the swimmer resides within Fulton County, who goes to school within the city limits.
  3. Swimmer is a member of a swim team (during the season - min 60 days) that is based within the city limits of Johns Creek, including residents and non-residents of the City of Johns Creek, as long as the swimmer resides within Fulton County. Teams within the city limits include: Atlanta Athletic Club, Cambridge, Chartwell, CC of The South, Doublegate, Falls of Autry Mill, Foxdale Reserve, Glastonberry, Haynes Landing, Highland Park, Hillbrooke, Lifetime Fitness – Johns Creek, Mayfair/St. Clair, Medlock Bridge, Oxford Mill, Seven Oaks, Shakerag, St. Ives, Sugar Mill, and Wellington.

Note: Eligibility involving non-residents who are not an integral part of the City of Johns Creek program shall be determined by the Recreation & Park Manager.

HOW DOES A SWIMMER DECLARE ELIGIBILITY FOR JCAT?

Eligible swimmers who are interested in qualifying for a spot on JCAT MUST indicate their intent by placing JC6 in front of their first name when submitting their entry form for the ASA League Championship Meet. This will allow staff to determine eligible swimmers on qualifying meet day. If the swimmer does NOT have JC6 indicated in front of their name they will not be able to join the team (even if their times “qualify” them). **Only times from the ASA Championship Meet will be used to qualify swimmers for the JCAT.

HOW ARE JCAT SWIMMERS SELECTED?

Only swimmers 6 years of age and up are eligible to qualify for Johns Creek Aquatic Team. The top 3 designated finishers in each event that showed intent to swim for the JCAT by placing a JC6 in front of their first name at the ASA Championship Meet will qualify for the Johns Creek Aquatic Team. IN addition, up to 12 of the top freestyle finishers in each age group that showed intent will qualify to swim freestyle relays for Johns Creek Aquatic Team.

NOTE:

  • Three Individual Events – competitors can potentially be entered into a max of THREE individual events and two relays events (2018 rule change).
  • Mixed Gender Relay – this will give an opportunity for age groups that don’t have enough swimmers to fill a same gender relay, to team together for a mixed gender relay. All swimmers can still only participate in 2 relay events but now those could be either mixed or same gender.
  • The INDIVDUAL event(s) your child swims at the ASA Championship Meet at GA Tech, if qualified for the JCAT, would be the same INDIVDUAL event(s) your child would swim at the GRPA State Swim Meet. *This is a GRPA State Swim Rule
  • Suggestion, not requirement! To maximize the amount of events your child could possibly swim at the GRPA State Swim Meet (if you qualify for the JCAT), would be to have your child swim an exhibition 3rd event at the ASA Championship Meet, along with 2 other individual events. We can now take any stroke for your exhibition 3rd event. That could be the Short Free if they’re not already swimming that as their 2 individual events to have a time for the JCAT Free Relay team or an additional individual event.
